OpenWhat a WHOIS lookup tells you
WHOIS is a public directory service that queries the databases held by domain name registries. Every time a domain is registered, the holder’s details — name, organisation, registration and expiry dates, nameservers — are recorded in a public register.
For .ma domains, that register is run by the ANRT, Morocco’s telecommunications regulator. WhoIsLookup.ma queries the ANRT registry directly over WHOIS, and uses the modern RDAP protocol for international extensions — fresh, structured data in under two seconds.
Beyond WHOIS, the site also inspects DNS records: you can check MX servers, review SPF, DMARC and DKIM settings that govern email deliverability, and follow DNS propagation across several public resolvers.

Frequently asked questions
- What is a WHOIS lookup?
- A WHOIS lookup queries the public domain name database to reveal who holds a domain, when it was registered, when it expires, which registrar manages it, and which nameservers are configured.
- How do I check whether a .ma domain is available?
- Use the .ma availability tool, which queries the Moroccan registry directly. Enter the name you want and you get an answer straight away. If the domain is free, you are pointed to the official registration path.
- Is WHOIS data always visible?
- For international domains (.com, .net and similar), GDPR made some personal data private. For .ma domains, the ANRT registry data remains accessible. The tool states clearly when a registrar has redacted contact details.
- What is the difference between WHOIS and RDAP?
- WHOIS is the older text protocol (port 43) and returns unstructured data. RDAP is its modern successor, built on JSON and HTTPS — more secure, more reliable and standardised by ICANN. WhoIsLookup.ma uses RDAP wherever it is available and falls back to classic WHOIS when the registry offers none, which is the case for .ma domains.
- Can I check a domain’s DNS records?
- Yes. The DNS tools cover A, AAAA, MX, TXT, NS and CNAME records, follow DNS propagation across several public resolvers, and audit email security settings (SPF, DMARC, DKIM).
